They can squeeze through any opening larger than their hard beak—the only rigid part of their body. Octopuses are incredibly intelligent, capable of using tools, solving puzzles, and even escaping from aquariums! They have excellent eyesight and can learn through observation. When threatened, octopuses can release a cloud of ink to confuse predators while they escape. Some species can also detach an arm to distract predators—the arm will regenerate! Octopuses are solitary creatures found in oceans worldwide, from shallow tide pools to the deep sea.
